New Pets at Home at Fort Kinnaird launches search for charity partners
Pets at Home is pledging to help local pet charities in the Newcraighall area and beyond as it prepares to open a new store at the Fort Kinnaird Retail Park in December.
Store manager Annie Campbell is appealing to local people in the area to nominate animal organisations or charities which they would like to see partnered with the store through Support Adoption For Pets, the charity established and supported by Pets at Home.
The partnerships will help to ensure that as many abandoned animals as possible are re-homed into loving environments, where they will be well cared for by their new owners.
In the past 12 months, Support Adoption For Pets has raised more than £1 million thanks to the fundraising efforts of store colleagues and customers. The money has been used to provide financial support to animal welfare charities and local re-homing centres across the UK. The charity helped more than 350 re-homing centres and animal welfare organisations in the UK during 2010.
Pets at Home Fort Kinnaird hopes to be partnered with local organisations in time for the grand opening. Annie and her team are asking local people to get in touch to help find those charities that really make a difference to the welfare of pets and animals in and around the area.
She says: “We want to be at the heart of the pet community, supporting local charities and helping them to continue their good work, whether through in store events, fundraising or donations.
“We’d love to hear from any pet welfare organisations and re-homing centres so we can talk to them about our Support Adoption For Pets charity and how we can help their organisation.”
Anyone with information on a local animal charity or organisation should contact Pets at Home via email on supportadoptionforpets@petsathome.com stating Fort Kinnaird in the subject box, or alternatively through Support Adoption For Pets charity manager Amy Wilson on 0161 486 3774.
The new Pets at Home store will feature a Pet Adoption Centre, which will be home to a range of pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small animals, all looking for a second chance of happiness, often due to a change in their owner’s circumstances.
